    Puke & Snot

Tuesday, August 12, 2008, 11:59 AM EST [Faires]

So, here I sit at my computer listening to Puke & Snot vs. The Bard regretting not buying their DVD last season.
I've got a cigar lit and a shot at the ready. My eyes are watery and the beer has become salty. Only once before have I felt this way over a performer at faire.
We lost an originator today, I'm deeply saddened.

I had just commented about them at dinner last night and it has really sunk in that I won't get to hear their stinging barbs in person again. A 34 year verteran, it is rare to find two people with such a chemistry and talent. Year after year I would watch them rapt attention even though I knew most of the punch lines and chorteling at the ones that had changed.

They perfected an act that without them we would have never seen many that followed in their footsteps. I will always fond memories of them on the pirate ship at MRF and when they came back to MDRF and did an impromptu show for a circle of what seemed like hundreds by the info booth.

The magic their words made captured me every time, I will miss Puke & Snot...

Rest well Snot, you have earned it

    PARF Closing Weekend

Monday, October 29, 2007, 11:52 AM EST [Faires]

What a nice weekend up at PARF. It was, as always nice to see the PARF contingent especially Duchess, the wine wench. Lot's of MDRF rennies showed up over the weekend and we even got to meet Lady Anne and Sir Oswyn, as well as many others, for the first time.
For the first time we were able to catch the Finale in Song and wow what a show, I can't believe 70% of the packed in audience didn't seem to be alive or appreciate it at all.

One good thing about PARF is that it is easy to lay off the booze. I did sample the beers and several wines, but only had the one cup of stout.

All in all a good time . . . until next season.

    MDRF FoF Update

Tuesday, July 31, 2007, 03:21 PM EST [Faires]

Here we are only a little more then three weeks away from the start of the Maryland Renaissance Festival and we at the MDRF Friends of Faire are ready.

    *  We are hosting our Second Annual MDRF Photo Contest sponsored by Renaissance Magazine. You can find out all you need to know at www.MDRFFoF.com/photo.html

    *  Our Pre-Faire Party is being hosted in Northern Virginia by Mum and Da, if you are attending we need you to RSVP on the Message Boards.

    *  Speaking of the Message Boards we have a ton of Sneak Peeks about the 2007 season posted for all to view and a few extra tid bits still in the Charter Mebers Area. We have hit several milestones on the Boards; 375,000 hits, 7000 posts, 1000 topics and 260 members. Don't let these numbers scare you though, we are a friendly place to find out about faire and make new friends. You can find our Message Boards at mdfof.proboards55.com

    *  Our Membership Drive for both the Message Boards and our group on RenSpace, which was featured last month, is going on now. Our goals are very reasonable; we want 300 members on the Boards and 100 members on RenSpace. You can find us on RenSpace at mdrffof.renspace.com

    *  I am placing the order for pins that will be at MDRF on opening day now. If you want a pin you must get your order in this week to get yours opening weekend. Demand will determine when the next set of pins gets ordered but there are already over 300 of the MDRF FoF pins in circulation now. Pins can be ordered at www.MDRFFoF.com/goods.html#pins

    *  Faire Window Clings have been a huge success and we are still trying to get it worked out that they are available at one of the vendors at faire. We have already sold over 500 MDRF clings and I for one can't wait to see them in the parking lot. We have plenty of different faire clings available at www.MDRFFoF.com/fwc.html

    *  We are holding our weekly online chats this season just as in the past. On Wednesdays at 7PM join us in IRC or throught the website at www.MDRFFoF.com/chat.html and see what's going on. It is important to note that the chat room is always open and if nothing else the MDRFbot is there to answer your questions.

I think that is about it for this update from the MDRF Friends of Faire and we can't wait to see everyone at faire and until then visit us at mdfof.proboards55.com
